Default How to fix a 6.0?

I don't think that individuals should be stuck fixing these engines one at a time over and over. Whether it was Ford or Navistar, one or both of these groups made the decision to put the engine out there for consumption. Ford sold the engines and is thus ultimately responsible for success or in this case failure. My dealings with Ford have been completely less than positive. I end up with some hopelessly underpaid telephone answering lady who could give a Royal Hoot whether or not I'm a Ford customer or love Toyotas. My truck is just barely off warrantee, and has been treated with care. I drove my last Ford, a 5.8L to 400,000 miles before the body started to disintegrate, and sold it still running. Such is corporate mentality that this particular group had to have known that these engines were going to be problematic before they went into production, or realized shortly thereafter that severe design problems existed. How many 100,000 were sold? Yes they've paid out a lot in warrantee claims but they've been paid premium dollars for reliability which they haven't supplied. It's customers like me that have built Ford, but now they could give a rat's *** whether or not I'm happy with their products. I have associates that used to purchase fleets of nothing but Ford trucks but will never again do so. I am a father of 13.
My oldest boy, whom I gave a 1969 Mach 1, just traded his 05 King Ranch 6.0 off on a brand new loaded Ram when he saw what was happening to me. My best friends son owned a 06 F250 6.0 which was just a nightmare, and this last week he bought a new premium Ram diesel. I appreciate your replies and especially your offers to assist. It is the season to have a few just to break the tensions of continuous work. Although I'm a hobby mechanic with a 30X50 shop, working on ancient machines is pretty much my limit. I have an Otto engine that ran in the oilfields near Kevin Montana for in excess of 420,000 hours (24 hrs. per day from 1923 until 1979) 12.25inch bore X 20 inch stroke 125 rpm Bye for now and a Merry Christmas to you.

How many miles did you get from your car? Have you tried sending it to auto repair shop? Most likely cause is biodiesel. By me, they don't even disclose it but all local diesel is bio mix. check your brass water valve, where you drain the water from the fuel.

Default How many 6.0 Ford are there out there?

My dead F250 never saw Biodiesel it was just one of the approximatly 2.4 million 6.0 lemon diesels sold by Ford. I really feel sorry for those people who got stuck, or are about to be stuck with honking big repair bills. But what do you do? All of the SuperDuty Ford's with that engine will probably end up doing the one way trip on the back of a scrappers truck prematurely. Some people might call that good corporate management. Develop a machine that cannot be economically driven after the warrantee expires leading to it being prematurely crushed and you will be able to sell the system more of the same. I used to get a little personal high out of watching the Ford "Tough" truck advertisements, you know where they drop the big Ford symbol and the ground shook, as I was part of that Ford family. Now I'm just totally annoyed, and I think I'll make my own Ford advertisement, with my smoker/steamer and with a tape of the reply from Ford telling me that I'm **** out of luck, at 82,000 miles.

Or you could just fix the thing and be done with it. There are times I'm not happy with my 6.0 either, but I fix what's wrong and move on. Certainly don't let it ruin my life. Also if you're not here to ask questions or help others, why are you here? To voice your issues... issues we are all aware of already? At this point it's getting annoying, you're providing absolutely nothing to this forum.

Also botmylastford, pretty sure the post above you is spam. Nothing they said makes any sense with this thread.

Default True action is required.

You are definetly right, I will just have to deal with this 6.0. I've made the decision to take it to a Ford dealer and patch it up and then get rid of it. I've obviously made the decision that enough is enough. The only help I can give people on this form is to make it clear that Ford's behavior in designing, manufacturing and selling such a large volume of substandard merchandise does no longer warrant people's confidence in their product. It's also interesting to see that Ford advertises on this site, and hopefully they are ingesting my thoughts with as much glee as my 6.0 is in consuming antifreeze. If my words have cost Ford one sale then I feel at least partially vindicated, and being the father of 13 kids, well respected in this community, and well educated I will cost them more.

I'm sure Ford is well aware of the issues and so is the market. 6.7 powerstroke truck sales are through the roof, but nice try.

I agree, patch it up and send it down the road. You're talking about a truck that is 3 model years old now, they're no longer concerned with it and almost all of the warranties on the 6.0's are running out. 06's will be gone this summer and 07's next summer of course for the few that have the 7yr/200k warranty, but they all had to pay for those.

Believe it or not, there are 6.0's out there that have lived long and healthy lives. My buddy has an 05 crew cab long bed lariat he bought last summer. He got it with 170k miles on the clock and the oasis report was completely bare. Not a single warranty claim on the truck at all. Still kicking and it's tuned now.
