I know of people running 1500ppm (red dye) with know problems. From what I have heard it can plug up your cat if you are running stock

red dye fuel is the same PPM of sulfur as Clear/Green diesel with a red dye in it, maybe for a while during the conversion to ULSD not all red was the same as the clear, but that was due to stock in the tanks not because it was made any different than the clear stuff, I believe higher sulfur fuel on a "newer" engine would cause it clog up the egr and possibly gum up the injectors, but i think exhaust related components would be the biggest issue

So you are running on Low Sulfer Diesel and not the new Ultra Low Sulfer Diesel? Or am I way off?

well i think he's talking about old school diesel like 1000+ppm of sulfur, back when diesel was awesome instead of made to cater to hippies

Low sulfur is 500ppm, and Ultra low sulfur is 15ppm. I've run red dye 500ppm low sulfur in my 6.0 many times with no issues. A lot of states now have their red dye fuel at 15ppm sulfur and the rest are getting there. I'm lucky enough that I can still get 500ppm stuff here. It shouldn't hurt it at all.

If you've ever had the cat off of the truck and looked through it you'd know your fuel isn't going to plug it up. It's a diesel cat, not a gas job cat.

If anything it's better because it has more lubricity than ultra low. Also to add to this, it's not actually the sulfur that is the lubricant, despite what everyone thinks. When they removed sulfur, a byproduct was that some lubricity was lost, but it's not actually the sulfur itself.

What I'm trying to say is 500ppm stuff is fine to run.

Gmoody, need more info about the truck... how many miles, any mods, what are they used for, any recent work, any check engine lights.... any more info...?

I believe we need alot more info, talked to my father about it today and he works at a refinery, if he's down in the Dominican Republic which is what it says it could be up to 3,000+ ppm of sulfur down there due to lack of current refining equipment, which in the good old days or 12 valve days that would be awesome on the engines and pumps but todays engines, pretty much anything electronically controlled it would actually degrade performance, 1000 ppm sulfur which would be called just Diesel cause that's what it was 20 years ago or more would be ok in most newer trucks with the exception of DPF equipped trucks, so if it's possible the sulfur content is that high it would cause alot of issues, mainly exhaust(EGR) and injector issues

LSD or low sulphur diesel by law can't be refined anymore, so they're going to run out here shortly, you won't have problems in these trucks with LSD it's HSD high sulphur diesel, 3,000+ ppm in developing countries, the engines aren't designed to run on it, it's alot more sulfur than we've seen in the states for along time
