Default stock 6.0 for most part wanting to build and need knowledge please and thanks

Okay i have an 05 6.0 I Just bought this truck about a month ago and im wantin to get on the track with it Hopefully next year!!
Its got an 8 inch lift. Guy that had it before me didnt care about nothing but looks, ive been replacing and replacring parts. Now looking to build it up!!
Im gonna do egr delete, not sure if i need to do the head studs before that or if it really matters.
Head studs.
Some type of programmer for power if anyone has any suggestions of which one to buy.
Id like to do all this before i try to deal with any smoke rolling but, this truck doesnt roll any smoke at all which is great until i hit the track id like to see some beauty in the air! , ive seen a couple videos of guys cuttin wires to get smoke.... Is that a route to take?!
It would seem like that would mess somethin up.
Im just really needing to know best programmer..
If apr head studs should be done before egr delete...
Not so much worried about the smoke until last thing i do.
Thanks for any advice

Rolling smoke is pretty much just an inefficient engine. I would do the egr delete 1st. Sct makes one of the best programmers for the 6.0s. With the head studs it's my personal opinion to deal with it when it is a problem, just make sure to go back with oem head gaskets. Rolling smoke may play havoc with the turbo vains, requiring more frequent cleaning. Make sure to do the blue spring upgrade on the fuel pressure regulator if that has not been done yet. Always use oem fuel and oil filters. With the oil filter make sure it is a oem short cap, I have seen several trucks that have a wix tall cap with a oem filter. This combination does not filter oil and does not close the oil filter drain valve, not a good combination. As with the fuel filters, the water separator really doesn't work correctly with the membrane on the outside of the primary filter, only oem filters have this membrane. Water getting to an injector tip can cause it to break and fall into the cylender, usually causing base engine damage. Change oil every 5k, fuel filter every 15k. Do not get a cold air intake, to factory air box filters especially well and flows enough for 500hp. The rechargeable air filters do not filter as well and coat the maf sensor with oil, thus giving inaccurate readings. Have fun.
