Default First oil change.. Need some help.

Got the truck in my shop. Oil draining. Take the oil filter housing off and remove the filter. I notice the filter doesn't look like the ford filter I have to replace it. I get the old filter out of the cap and the new filter won't go back in the cap. Then I see on the side of the cap it is a Napa cap that says not to reuse... any advice?

its because the oil filter was not supposed to come off that napa cap it is a one piece set up, most people recommend ford filters. see if you cant get a oem cap for the truck

Thanks for the reply. I got an oem cap and got the ford filter in there. On a side note if you ever have an opportunity to buy a vehicle from joe cooper ford in yukon ok DONT DO IT. They told me, and gave me an invoice for a full oil and filter change from a few days before I boutht the truck. Then I find a Napa filter on it. I'm pretty sure the dealer didn't run down Napa for parts... Who knows how many miles it had been since it had been serviced...
