Default A little help please: no start on an 05 6.0.

Hello fellas,

Here it is: I just purchased an 05 6.0 (stock work truck) not running with a blown EGR cooler. I sent the injectors out to Becs Pacific for testing, updated stc fitting, standpipes and dummy plugs, bulletproofed the engine, tried starting it and nada.

Brand new tested batteries
Tested/Cleaned IPR Valve
ICP after it builds pressure shows roughly 2000psi during cranking
Injector Pulsewidth
Over 300 RPM Cranking
IPR Duty Cycle roughly 55 while cranking
FICM Voltage 48v resting and cranking - I also swapped ficms from another truck and no dice. FICM from this truck started another as well.
Fuel Pressure 60-65 psi resting and cranking (blue spring)
Some smoke from the tail pipe while cranking

I had 2 hard codes, one for crank sensor and one P0381 (glow plug circuit).
I changed the crank sensor and that went away and now I'm stuck with a no start and P0381 code.

P0381 unfortunately doesn't have too much information for a 6.0 backing it up after a few days of searching.

P0381 has to do with the glow plug circuit so I exchanged the gpcm with the one from my 6.0 and it tested fine. I then checked the voltage at the bus bar harness connector unplugged and got over 12v at all glow plug wires. I then checked voltage with the harnesses plugged in and got roughly 10.7v at all glow plug wires. I then checked the resistance of the glow plugs through the bus bar harness and got .5 ohms on the drivers side and -.5 ohms roughly on all of the passenger side glow plugs.

Anybody have any ideas on this one? I have read one little excerpt about PCM but that's all I can find.

Thanks everybody!

Is the 2000 psi actual or desired for ICP? Mine has about 35% and 650 psi actual when cranking and idling.

My reading on the IDS last week was over 500 but I don't recall the exact number. My reading with the Obd2 dongle and Torque App reads just shy of 2k. About 1800psi. I'm assuming that the torque app just reads sensors through the obd2 port so I'm assuming that it is the actual reading from the ICP sensor. Good call though.

Update: I found 2 other codes: B2658 and B1352
Also I've had the block heater plugged in for hours and it still won't fire.

Information should anybody ever reference this thread. Looks like the instrument cluster is smoked. Many of the the codes I was getting were IC related. I pulled the dash cover off and started playing with the harnesses that plug into the top of it and bam the sound of rice crispies. I started pressing on the back of the instrument cluster and the radio, dome light and various warning lamps on the dash started turning on and off.
