my trucked 2005 f 350 dually 6.0 turbo stopped running after trouble shooting I tore into the front of the engine and found the gerotor gear busted and the front cover .I replaced the front cover and the gears .cranked the engine over forever and finaly got oil pressure and the truck started but it blew the top off of the oil filter cap..any suggestions could this have been air pressure ?

 

very likely something from the broken gear has clogged the pressure regulator not allowing it to open, also if you put some grease on the gears it will prime a lot faster.
