Default Help, what is this leftover spring after oil cooler replacement?

F250 6.0L, Changing the oil cooler, on the home stretch putting everything back together and have two springs that I thought came from the oil filter housing valves to the cooler. Finding out I never should have removed the valves (now I know never do that again)! Sounds like only one spring goes to the relieve valve (mechanic thinks smaller spring), where does this other spring go??? Ford mechanic told me he does not remember any springs for oil cooler replacement.

Thanks in advance,

Kevin

look at the top of the filter tower, the black spiral thing, there should be a plunger on the top if I remember right. that would be the longer spring, and yes the smaller spring looks like the drain back valve spring.
