Had a egr cooler delete put in back in September was the egr valve supposed to have been removed also? Please help asap only vehicle I have to get to work and my wife is pregnant and has to travel 40 miles to the doctor once a week.oil pressure gauge shows good batteries are good.hard warm starts cold starts not too bad but still not right.any and all help would be much appreciated.thanks

Do you have access to a scan tool. What other mods do you have? Is your air intake clear? If you already know this just ignore the next part. The black smoke is unburned fuel normally too much for the amount of air put in. Does your turbo surge? I just had mine surge, my veins were sticking and I still didn't get any real smoke to speak of but I had no power and couldn't get over 2600 rpm but I had a combination of problems

No access to scanner. No other mods that I know of. New air filter turbo seems to make a kinda of pulsing sound while driving and loosing power it'll make a make a muffled pop sound some times and the motor cuts out when it does it.the turbo is during a lil oil when I took the breather tube off yesterday.

You really need to find a qualified shop to take a look or buy some type of obd2 tool. It'll be required to do much of anything with your truck!

I would probably take it to an auto parts store and get them to check the codes. They will tell you what they are but write them down anyway and look up those codes. You might be out a turbo on this one. I think what you call pulsing is what I call surging. Had it surged on occasion before this?

My first look would be at the turbo, also check all the boots and look at the intercooler. Other members might have some other advice as well

They found a fault code related to a temp sensor. That doesn't mean the temp sensor is bad!!!

Cool deal, too often have folks come in and say "this is bad, the parts store said". Each time we have to explain why it must be diagnosed etc.
