Default new to diesel

i have just purchased an 04 power stroke FX4 with 185k miles. I am new to diesel and am a little concerned about the 6.0. I have a service report that says this: 64015 miles, turbo replacement ecc test PO299 PO478 pinpoint test check pids testdrive test VGT replace turbo reprogram pcm ficm and tcm test drive retest pass.
Then this: 98849 miles Causal:6006: condition: 42: dtc:P2290,P2291: approval:Paa7v test to start cranks no start. Pulled codes :P2290,P2291: checked base oil pressure none: removed oil filter found oil stand pipe melted plastic throughout oil galleys: found EGR cooler leaking called hotline: was told to replace longblock due to excessive heat and plastic contamination in the oil galleys

I guess this means the turbo and longblock have been replaced? what is a long block? Should I worry this will happen again? But mostly what can I do to prevent the heat problems these motors can have, it runs great now.

I would get a good monitor or gauge package and keep an eye on it. If you have truck running well and see parameters for your truck, you will know when something is going awry. I saw a new ad for bulletproof diesel, with a plug and play code reader/ monitor. Not familiar yet but under $200 I'm thinking about getting as soon as I'm back to full time work!

Also long block is complete motor with heads

I bet the original owner was using some crappy WIX filters.

Stick with Ford oil and fuel filters, also the oil and fuel caps.
