Default My new 06 Powerstroke

Hey everyone, I just recently purchased a 2006 F250. It only has 82k miles on it and whoever owned it before me took immaculate care of this truck, it literally looks brand new and feels brand new. The first thing I plan on doing with the truck is to do the EGR delete. I understand there are a few threads with this information already in it and I have looked at a few of them but can not seem to find any that are cut and dry.

I was wondering if when I purchase the kit what all is necessary to do the delete to prevent the known further problems? I did a little research and saw multiple kits with different add on features such as exhaust up pipes and etc. I just want to do the delete so that I do not have to worry about those problems. Also how hard is install, I used to be really big into cars and have done a supercharger build and do have above basic mechanical knowledge?

Second, I have read some people say you should do the oil cooler at the same time and some say it's not necessary as long as your truck isn't running hot. So what are the benefits of doing that right now vs. waiting a little to do that?

Third, what is the best tuner to delete the code it throws when you do the delete? I live in a county in texas where emissions are not checked. I have heard SCT is the way to go. I do not plan on doing any modifications until I have the money for to get the truck studded and do the head gaskets.

Lastly, what do I need to monitor as far as aftermarket gauges are concerned or is there a programmer that has built in monitoring devices?

Thank you very much in advance for any and all help. I look forward to being a part of this forum.

I will take the short rout and say to definitely rebuild the oil cooler while you are at it, the best time for it as you will have the intake off anyway and every oil cooler is at least partially clogged by that mileage, then it is MOST important to add a coolant filter so the new oil cooler doesn't get clogged. Clogged oil coolers create half of the problems with the 6.0, it causes-blown EGR coolers-blown head gaskets do to steam-blown Orings on High Pressure Oil system due to high oil temps-injector damage due to high temps, look at it as the injectors are oil cooled.- shortened oil life.

that's not too bad, but the intake will have to come off to do the oil cooler though. check out Ebay, at least for pricing so you will know what is available and costs
