Hey everyone im new to this site so ill just say what i have and then some questions i have. So i drive a 2005 f250 superduty. Its got the 6.0 turbo diesel and a hypertech tuner on 33s. My question is how can i get a little better than 12 mpg. Its all stock and ive heard straight piping it will get better but im curious if its true? Any reply is great thank you.

If you want good mileage, first is driving style. If you are standing on it it eats more! Gentle on the throttle and coast a little to stop is a good start. Sounds like you just have tuner for mods. If you get good cold air intake and turbo back exhaust it will help. Air in and out and good fuel system are always good for your truck. Proper maintenance is critical too. The better your truck runs the less it has to work. This forum has many good posts of mods guys did and the outcome.

Good luck getting more. I get 12-15 city and 17 hwy. Thats with 35s and Hypertech tuner on stage 3 or 2. Didn't see any difference between the 2.

Thank you guys for helpin me out on this. Ill be looking into a cold air intake and exhaust for sure. Should it be a straight piped exhaust or should i get one with a cat? And as far as the intake do u know of any good brands?

Hold off on the air intake and buy a real tuning device like the SCT. Get some custom SCT tuning, install an EGR delete kit, consider using a FICM tuner as well. Report the results after 1000 miles of driving.

SCT with custom tunes is the way to go.

SCT is the way to go with the 6.0 especially with custom tunes I would do an EGR delete also I seen some mileage gains with the one on my old 06 Pstroke it had a Custom Diesel EGR delete, 4 inch MBRP exhaust, SCT SF3, and some aftermarket injectors. Got a little over 18 mpg on the setup with my leadfoot! eventually put headstuds on it but was pleased with the mileage

Thats awesome hopefully i can get somewhere near that. I plan on getting the egr delete soon and the sct sf3 also. When you said 18 was that in town or highway?
