ok so i got my first 6.0 2 weeks ago and now it seems to have a bit of a rough idle and have smelled coolant twice now no its not coming out of the degas bottle but when i parked 20 min ago i could hear the degas bottle hissing like it had alot of pressure n it does seem to be a lil low on power yet the other day when i drove it to school it ran like a bat outta hell n was a bit faster then usual so are my gaskets about to go am i already fucked?? would some standyne fuel additive help the rough idle and change the degas cap help?? need help fast here please

 

I would pull the egr valve and look at it closely. It should have dry residue on it. If its gooey you probably need an egr cooler. . . If its ok I would change the cap and see if its over pressurizing your tank.

It can. . .make sure your coolant is clean and always use motor craft recommended coolant only! The generic coolant clogs up the egr and oil coolers! Proper maintenance is critical on a 6.0 but worth the effort! There are lots of posts here with what works and common mods to get more power and life out of your truck.
