Default removing EGR

what is the purpose/reasoning behind removing the EGR valve, etc.? It seems to me from reading the posts here that alot of problems pop up after doing this that didn't exist before?
Is it worth it?

If you look into the intake and heads you will see a soot buildup. Also the EGR introduces exhaust back into the air intake, not good for performance and long engine life.

If its a true delete kit, yes it blocks opening in intake manifold and has new up pipe. No more soot in intake.
