Default Oil cooler

I'm pretty sure my oil cooler is clogged or bad. And was wondering if I could just take it out and replace it with the mishimoto universal oil cooler or would I have to run that and the stock oil cooler? Cause I really don't want to have to replace it and worry about it going out again cause it's too much work to get to and I don't want to pay thousands if dollars to have someone else do it.

Do a complete coolant flush with restore then change rebuild the oil cooler and then most importantly ADD A COOLANT FILTER,,, A good coolant filter will prevent the oil cooler from clogging again. These blocks are sandcast and some of the sand will stick to the cast iron and eventually come loose getting into the coolant system and the fine sand will clog the oil cooler passages, by adding a coolant filter it will filter out that nasty sand so it won't be able to clog the cooler.

Well I'm not exactly sure if it is the oil cooler. I just have a coolant leak, it will leak a gallon and no more than that no matter how long I drive it only a gallon exactly will leak out. It never overheats unless I turn the air conditioner on for an extended period of time. No oil in my coolant, nor coolant in oil, and no coolant in transmission. Runs perfectly fine just leaks and overheats if the ac is on for more than like thirty minutes of driving. And if I have it full of coolant then it will puke out of the cap when I turn the truck off But not while driving

You only fill it to the MIN line on the degas bottle, you should have a sticker that shows the new level. I would also look at replacing the thermostat and also make sure the fan is working. It shouldn't overheat no matter what the outside temp is or how much you are towing.

I only fill to the min line on the sticker. And I changed the thermostat last week cause I though that was the problem. And I can hear my fan, not sure if it's working though. But I don't have gauges so it's just showing on the temp gauge on the dash that it's as hot as it can get and it still runs normal wen it says that but the fan is much louder. I'm just confused on where the coolant is going. I can't find a leak anywhere and it's not getting into the oil, or transmission. And the exhaust has no smoke and smells normal.

The intake is dry inside too. I have an egr delete so I'm not worried about that

have you replaced the cap yet, they are prone to fail and release pressure prematurely. if it ever purged out the cap the cap is probably bad by now, try that first to see if it fixes it. many have had bad caps on here

Yeah I meant to go by ford today and get one. But I'm gonna go by in te morning! I was thinking that might be the problem but didn't think a falling could leak out from that. But thanks for all the help! I really hope it's just the cap!

Replaced the cap and it's still pukes out of the cap when I turn the truck off. It doesn't run hot or anything. It runs normal but as soon as I turn it off it pukes coolant out the cap and will only do it if it is full. Once it pukes once it won't do it again until I fill it back up
