I have a 2006 6.0 and it pops thru intake. I went and had it scanned top to bottom and compression tested and everything comes back perfect. The mechanic said he has heard the sound before but mine was just a bit louder than usual and I have nothing to worry about. Is he accurate....

Was bad guide. . . It ended up poor maintenance did it in. . What else does yours do? How often does it pop?

Does it seem to affect performance? Or just a nuisance noise?

is it a WOP WOP WOP sound? or a true POP!!! sound? diesels use a lot of air, with an aftermarket filter you will hear it sucking in a ton of air for each cylinder.

these things suck in a ton of air, you are just hearing it because the AFE intake, if you stop hearing that at idle then you will know your filter is real dirty. the huge paper filter that is stock muffles the sound.
