I've done some looking at the Cummins swaps and the price on the kits alone are around 2500-3000 depending on what you've got and then it's at least another 2000-3000 to get an engine I wouldn't mind putting a Cummins in mine but I'm going to wait and see if I can't get 300k outta my 6.0 first just my two cents

head gasket and studs are much cheaper. Also depending on where you live you may not be able to put a 12 valve cummins in because of the emissions laws. Or if you have emissions = No 12 valve.

Instead of convincing us that a 12V swap is cheaper when we all say get studs, go do the swap and be happy.

If you are looking for reliable and cost effective, fix your 6.0. Do the upgrades for egr delete and studs and make sure before you get in there you don't have other issues. If you are good at fabricating and modding and like the fummins idea and have deep pockets, try the cummins. I have seen many swaps and most were not really all it's cracked up to be! Lotta work and issues till u get em right! Make sure you maintain your truck whatever you decide, a lot of issues originate from poor maintenance or poorly thought out mods. You didnt say why your headgaskets failed. Read other posts here and see what works, these guys have probably tried or saw the things that will work and more important what doesn't.
