6.0 injectors??
Hi All
Still working on my 2003 6.0. Last I posted, I had replaced the FICM for a no-start. It starts and runs, but is not roadworthy. It's got a pretty bad missfire at 1200, no power, blowing the blues, and you can't hear the turbo spooling - worse when it's cold. The FICM is good, and showing 48v at all times.
I ran a cylinder contribution test, and it's got 3 cylinders showing -30 to -34% and 3 more showing -15 to -18%, the other 2 are showing 0%. I figgure that I'll be forced to replace the 3 worst injectors at least.
I have just put new Rotella dino oil in it and replaced all of the filters - with Ford OE. According to the old service sticker, it had 5w-40 synthetic, but was overdue for a change.
So... the question is... do I just try the 3 bad injectors and go back to synthetic?
Do I change all 6 bad looking injectors?
Or... do I try something like Rev-X or HotShots secret?
The injectors are still pretty pricey where I am, but I've got the "Stealer" down to 250 ea. I wouldn't try aftermarket for the little bit of difference. But.. even at the reduced price, 6 injectors are going to run 1500 - bummer!
Any thoughts before I break the freakin bank on this Pig.

I would change just the 3 first, one dead injector will make it run lik crap. While you have the oil rail off go ahead an pull all the injectors on that side, install new orings on all of them, they are cheap-here they are under $5 per injector.the reason for doing this is if an injector comes loose it can throw codes for any injector on that side of the motor because combustion pressures can enter the fuel "rail" in the head and push fuel away from another injector causing it to missfire because no fuel will be there. Also you can make sure they are torqued down properly, go about 3pounds over what the book says because stock torque is just not enough and they can come loose.
Keep in mind one of the major killers of inectors is low fuel pressure, make sure you have the blue fuel spring upgrade, a fuel pressure guage is important to have too

There were never any memory codes stored for cylinder contribution. I am just trying to get the missfire out of it, make the smoke stop, and bring it back to full power. The way it is, it doesn't have the power to pull the skin off a rice pudding.
Now... to find the hours to do the work.
I'll post a follow-up when I'm done - that is, if I ever get it done.

Update
So... I changed the 3 worst looking injectors and it definitely runs better. No more misfires, no more blues out the tailpipe. The graph for cylinder contribution shows very few blips anymore, although, you still get the odd one when you rev up and then drop the throttle.
I did do the "Blue Spring" upgrade at the same time. Pricey little suckers for what you get, but the throttle response seemed to improve immediately.
I think...Finally, it may be ready to drive.
