Default Unusual Noise from Engine

My truck 2003 F350 6L 130K mi.
studs, egr delete, running innovative deisel tunes

There is a moderate to loud noise that I get at idle only. The sound is hard to explain, sort of like a buzz or growling sound. Happens hot or cold in any gear including park.

When you bearly pick up the revs (bearly touch the throttle) the sound goes away.

My truck runs fine and is fully capable of pulling my house!

I don't have guages nor does any warning lights come on.

Any ideas?

Something vibrating funny? Can you try to pinpoint an area it's coming from? Stock exhaust?

I remember after installing my stack setup, the piping underneath worked it's way over and was rubbing on the x-member for the trans. It only did it in park and at a very specific RPM, other than that the vibration went away.

I've checked evrything I can see such as heat shields. down pipe is tight (MBRP turbo back). The noise does not sound like a rattle. Could the turbo make a noise while at idle?

I had a WRRRRing noise for a while before my AC clutch bearing let loose, the bearing was shot and evidently had been for a while, the ***** were rusty and one of them tried to come out of the casing causing it to finally sieze up.

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

I really noticed it when I pulled my tires all the way up to a sidewalk and the drive belt area was over the sidewalk the sould reflected back easier for me to hear.

Any chance you can upload a video? Mine changes tones at idle. Here the turbo whistle then goes to a growl/rumble type sound. Then back.

That's because your trucks strategy is cycling the turbo vanes at idle to keep them clean.

Could it be one of your pulleys or ps pump? Engine noises are pretty hard to determine when you aren't there to hear it so I'm just taking a stab in the dark here
