Default Fuel gage

I've got the 7.3l idi wit twin gas tanks. When I top off the tanks the needle on the fuel gauge goes way past the "full" line is the gauge bad or the sending unit in the tank bad?

My 85 f250 does the same thing, at least on the front tank. But I know the gauge only works above 1/2 a tank on it and the rear I'm not sure as I haven't had enough money at one time to fill both tanks. I remember my 96 Ram 1500 did that too and everything was just fine. I don't think its an indication of something is going bad but I could be wrong.

Is there a way to make the reading accurate right? I kno that u can take the gauge cluster apart and reset the positioning of the needle. And yes the needle only does it on the front tank. It's not messing nething up it's jus annoying
