E4OD rebuild Tips Suggestions
Okay, I'm changing my 4x2 to 4x4 (92 F250, 7.3 IDI E4OD) I have to change the output shaft on my E4OD to the short one, I have a few questions about this:
1. How hard is it, and are any special tools needed?
2. What all should I do while I have it appart? (Torque converter will stay, it's got 3-4xxx on it)
3. Any special precautions I should take when removeing/dissassembling it?
4. If anybody has any tips/tricks I would appreaciate knowing them.
I was thinking a upgrade kit to 97 specs steel planetaries, ect but I can't seem to find it now, new seals, bearings/bushings, clutch packs...
Could someone point me in the right direction?
P.S.the only other transmissions I've worked on (other than maint.) are a yamaha motorcycle, a couple honda quads, and I replaced the shift forks in a 1949 Farmall Cub.
Thank you for your help

I forgot to mention the truck is N/A right now but will be upgraded to turbo in the future, I have my eyes on a banks wastegated sidewinder, it's on DD duty for now but does tow from time to time, generaly 10,000 or less on the trailer. we sold/blew up the dozer so it dosent get hauled any more.
