I have a 1990 7.3 IDI with a ATS turbo on it. At 227K mile I broke a piston and need to sleeve that cylinder. Is it safe to bore the other 7 cylinders .030 to clean up the block? I bought this truck new in 1990 and use it to pull an enclose 24 ft. car trailer. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Contnder -

With the cavitation issue these blocks have, I wouldn't think so. Most guys sleeve the motor back to a 6.9. -

Thanks for your help! Not sure whether to sleeve my block or go with a reman. engine. I have heard horror stories with some of the remanufactured engines.

Thanks again! -

its safe to sleeve but only if the machine shop you go to knows what they are doing. there has to be a step machined at the bottom to hold the sleeve in place or the sleeve will fall down and i'm sure you can imagine what happens then -
