Default e4od transmission problem

I havea 1992 ford 7.3 diesel. I just nowhad to repace the radiator and switched it with a manual one. I put a transmission cooler on it to make up for the rad not having one. Anyway since I have driven it today It goes into gear and drives good until it goes ito either 2nd or 3rd. Then it does a hard shift and acts like it not going to go into gear at first. Then it does and it wont switch to over drive it stays in 3rd. I have never had a problem switching the cooler like that before. I was thinking a sensor may hve went out or even the overdrive button, cause it doesnt do anything pushing it either way. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

it doesnt act like its internal, it acts like a slynoid went out. Does any think that could be it? I have had transmission act funny before they go out befor, but never like this. I had a chevy that had to be babied untill you got up to 60 mph and it was sylnoid. -

these transmissions need two or three more quarts of fluid than what the dipstick says. there is actually an update they perform on the dipstick where they grind a new mark about a quarter in above the full line. they can run dry easily on grades(boat ramps)

is the OD light blinking on the shifter? could be a solenoid pack as they do lots of different things when they go out. do not buy a remanufactured one as they are likely not any better than what you had before. -
