Long story short i'm starting to have some " Surging / Bucking " issues in my truck.

I've know these transmissions to have " Gov. Trans deucer & and pressure solenoid " issues

I an luck enough to be able to use a local transmisson shop's scan tool and got some info from the owner.

The Desired pressure was about 2X what the trans was actually putting out. Which he said indicated a bad solenoid setup in it.

But at the same time i pulled 3 codes,

P0500 Vehicle Speed Sensor Malfunction (Always had it, never goes away)

P0122 Throttle Position Sensor/Switch A Circuit Low Input

And one that is partially my fault cause i drove the truck some 75 miles with the fuel gauge on E

P0460 Fuel Level Sensor Circuit Malfunction (Scan tool said " No Change over long distance "

So i'm not sure where to go besides resetting the APPS sensor with the battery disconnect method

Any other ideas ? I'm about as broke as they come for now. so cheap cheap is my only option for now !

Thanks for the help

Nick

Sometimes I notice it comes up to around 12 then back 9-10 or so, then it will level back out to normal (14). Anyone else had this problem? I noticed the alternator sure looks small on these trucks.

My truck just recently had a new injection pump put on but it seems to smoke alot compareds to other 24v I see and alot more than my buddy's. It has an Edge Comp without the pump tapped and when I go into lockup it will just smoke out black smoke. It will also puff out a large cloud of black smoke when I let out of it after WOT. I have hit 22 PSI of boost at WOT but have a hard time getting over 15 PSI, and yes I do have an adjustable boost elbow. Any ideas, the truck runs fine but would like to actually get power out the that unburnt fuel. Could it be injectors? Thanks

on my 01 it sounded like the turbo was sqwueling like a bearing sounds when it goes bad. so i checked it out and it turned out to be a exhaust leak i lost two bolts and two spacers that hold the exhaust manifold on and a third one was on its way it was way loose so i retorqued all of them and replaced the two missing and now no more sqwueling.
a lot of you probably know this but i guess that is common on 2nd gen 24valves so check them atleast every month ill do it every week those bolts and spacers are not cheap.

Hey all. Recently upgraded my stock lift pump to a FASS DDRP unit. Since I can rely on a steady supply of fuel, I've decided to look into modules. Seeing that the pump won't support an adequate supply of fuel for major upgrades, and the 47RE won't take a big bump in output, I was thinking something along the lines of a simple plug-in setup.

The DiabloSport power puck and the Quadzilla XZT+ are both within my price range for the time being, and in the future I'd like to upgrade to a Smarty once I get the TC replaced with something stronger and more reliable. Until then, I had to ask around what people thought between the two, and possibly take some other advice and recommendations if both of these possibilites weren't well-accepted by the trucks belonging to those on the board.

Any input on either of these [or comparison of both] would be greatly appreciated, even if it's just an FYI, story of a friend's experience, or simply your $.02. Thanks.

Hi, I just bought a 1999 CTD; auto tran. Truck has 190,000 and the tran was rebuilt at 175,000 by Aamco. Also a new torque converter. My plans are just for bolt ons (airdog II being installed as we speak). Very little if any towing here in NC. My guess is I'll be lucky if I put 5K a year on this toy.

Should I be concerned about the tran? Does a Aamco rebuild improve the original????
Thanks

Bit the Bullet and sprung for a FASS. Also installed the pickup tube from FASS. Very nice kit, almost everything was included.

Didn't like the mixing of Grade 5 and Grade 8 hardware, but thats the way the dice rolls. I would have liked more JIC to 3/8" barbed fittings as well.

Didn't like any of the mounting suggestions that were included in the kit, so I did it my own way.

I notched out one of the bracket to make clearance.

In this configuration, the pumps can be hung from above.

When the pump was mounted, only 1/2 of filter is lower than the body panels of the truck. All the fitting on the pump were at the right height to easily run above the frame to the tank.

Another neat little thing I did:

There was a rubber plug in a hole of the frame. I removed it, cut a hole in the center, and ran the electrical harness through it.
