Just been screwing around with the smarty for a little bit earlier :rocking:

First thing I noticed is on level #6 and #8 it smokes wayyy more than the edge, and has a lot more "useable power". Also on the highway my edge load % is normally around 35% doing about 70, with the smarty on #6 it is steady about 15-18%. Which is pretty weird to me, but the truck is very preppy!!!:c: Also I haven't even messed with the edge yet, i'm sure the power is crazy between both of the programmers

My question is, what is everybody normally running it on? Also, whats all the other settings at? I havent messed with the timing or anything yet, just wanted to see what everybody else was running :rocking:
Thanks!
Austin

When I took delivery of my '05 Ram I had them enable the fast idle (very nice feature). When the service tech showed me how it worked he made the comment that "you'll use this alot because these things don't make heat in the cold." The first morning when I needed the heater I remembered his comment, and quicly learned he was right.

I love my truck, but I gotta say I don't like having to drive nearly 7 miles before I begin to feel any heat. When the outside temps dip below 10 degrees its common for me to run it on fast idle for 15 minutes (minimum), and still not have heat for the first 10 minutes of my drive.

Coolant level is correct. The engine will reach normal operating temp, but it just takes a while. Is this normal?

Any suggestions to help build heat into the engine during the winter?
:td:

Well the new motor is finally starting to get worn in a little bit (about 1700 miles on it now) and I notice around 1/2 throttle it sounds like there is a LOUD popping out of the stacks. I am not sure if it is "rail pop" or what is going on. New fuel filter, new engine, no muffler... yet. I am not sure if my CP3 is starting to go out and not hitting fuel to the pistons at the right time or what.

Took it to the shop and they said this happens on trucks with stacks and the best way to solve it is to put a muffler on it.

Anybody else have this with a straight piped system? It used to do that a little bit before the rebuild, but not like this.

Thanks, Austin

About six months ago, I bought a used juice with attiitude for my truck and everyhting was perfect. Everything worked well and as it was supposed to. About a month ago, the display went out. The backlight still comes on and you can still change levels, just no gauges. About a week ago, the gauges came back, but were stuck at zero. And now, we're back to a blank screen. :argh: Anyone else had this problem or heard of anyone having this problem? Any ideas how to fix it?

Before anyone says to ditch it and get a smarty, I plan on getting one to stack after I build my tranny.

All,

Recently my truck has decided to throw a few battery codes. The first one it threw was the power down data loss code. After less than ten keystarts this code cleared and it promptly threw the battery temperature sensor code. After ten keystarts that code cleared as well (cleared Friday evening), and it promptly threw it again sunday morning. I'm pretty sure if I go out right now and pull the battery cables and leave the key turned on for 45 minutes that all will be well for a couple months again.

My question is has anyone installed a set of battery quick disconnects on their truck? The kind like you would put on a tractor to keep the battery from going dead. That way I could do a hard reset on the computer without screwing with pulling the battery cables off. I think I could get a set of the kind you just turn the knob to unhook the battery and install one on each ground. Sound like a good or bad idea?

Nest question is what is the deal with my batteries? The only modifications that the truck has are a K&N intake and MBRP exhaust, neither of which should be causing this problem?? Any help or advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

05 Dodge Ram Dually Cummins, just melted 3 pistons, cracked the head in eight places and burned a hole in # 1 exhaust valve Lol 2 years of stacking Edge and Smarty on high anybody seen that before... probably worse rite. I bought an 06 motor off ebay with 30,000 miles, real clean changed everything over put 90hp ddp nozzels in it runs real good a lot more power. I turned the Edge and the smarty off, just running htb2 62/14 turbo and nozzels also bd lift pump. If i am driving like a normal human being and come to a stoplight it intermittently studders or hesitates about three times then runs fine again and it doesnt do it all the time if i beat the shit out of it its fine. New filter and injector cleaner. Any ideas? Thanks:humm:

While the truck was in for its oil change,I asked them to give it a good look over since I was thinking of selling it.
I was informed I needed a Drag link/Tie rod assembly,Pittman arm and steering gears are bad. I've had the death wobble every now and again,so this might be why. But with 99K miles and my front end is junk! Another design defect by Dodge and should be recalled,I've heard of trucks with 25K miles and needing the same parts replaced,so I guess I'm lucky to have gone 99K. I heard Dodge has a redesigned steering/front end kit that is supposed to be the fix and is pretty HD compared side by side with the bad. Do I trust OEM parts? Who do I get replacement parts from that are affordable and I don't have to go from one company to another to piece together a front end?

Do I cut and run and hope somebody will buy my truck and buy something else and hope its been upgraded with everything I need to do? Nobody is buying diesel's,much less DRW in my area of Alaska. Or do I spend the 4-$5K bucks for a trans and another $1200-$3500 to redo the front end? If I rebuild the front end,I might as well install the free wheeling hubs to help with the lack of MPG.+ $1300
The only reason I haven't bought a smarty or a power adder is because of fear of toasting the trans.
If I spend all this cash on my 6 yr old truck,I should be good for another 100K+ miles, right? Right?

Its the angel and devil on each shoulder talking trash. Since living in Alaska for 30 yrs,I've watched the price of shipping sky rocket, now that fuel is as high as it is, it gives businesses free reign to rape its customers on shipping. So I have to be very choosy who I do bidness with. And the dumb ass's that continue to pay full retail, plus the full outrageous shipping will allow some businesses to continue raping the non-lower 48 residents.

How bout throwing some advice my way?
