Hey guys;

I was just wondering what an average rule of thumb is everyone uses for how much fuel they have left when the fuel light comes on. I know obviously driving habits and hwy vs. city driving will affect how much is left but when I ran my '00 Exploder when the fuel light came on I usually had about 15 litres of fuel left roughly if I remember correctly. I've looked in the owners manual and the 6.0 supplement to see if I could fine a guideline from Ford but couldn't find one. I believe I have a 115L tank, its a '04 Supercab short box. Thanks in advance.

Cheers :c:

The truck runs and sounds great but i have a concern on the life of my motor. Ive been talking to people about the programmer and they have been telling me that it will cut the life of my motor in half and the tranny will go out. Im currently running the programmer on "Performance" and the tranny setting on "smooth". So i was just wondering what you guys think..thanks for all the help!!!

Basically what the deal is i will possibly have a few 6.0 fords to work on. The problem is they all run like crap and i need to get them running good and trouble free. I dont need any performance stuff unless its not costly and will help the truck run better and more reliable. What are common problems these 6.0 powerstrokes have and things to look for. What symptoms are caused by what things. I new to these trucks and need all the help i can get.

Ok, here goes the run down. I just purchased a used 2005 F250 Powerstroke, 61k miles. She runs great. I have been reading up on the common problems (EGR, head bolts).

The truck has a 4 yr/48000 mile warranty (aftermarket). Which covers all mechanical items- slightly beyond powertrain. The warranty company allows regular service shops (ASE certified is the only prerequisite) to perform the work. Lucky for me, a good friend of mine owns a shop, and will be doing all the work on the truck.

One catch, I live in CT. We have emissions. The truck just passed before purchase.

I dont plan on going crazy with mods. As she will be my daily driver, and weekend tow vehicle for my boat (under 7000lbs with trailer and gear). I was mainly thinking of exhaust, intake, tuner, upgrading to ARP head studs, and do something about the famed EGR.

Can I get away with an EGR delete, and a tuner, and go through emissions? Or will the emissions computer diagnostics pick up on the tuner and lack of EGR? My emissions test center is fairly easy going (my Stang with pre-axle dumps, and no cats passed 3 yrs in a row).

Are there any shops that offer parts along with tech service/info? I like to buy parts from people- not websites. I would be more than willing to purchase the parts at a slightly higher price, if that meant I was buying them from a competent and confident shop.

Thanks in advance! I appreciate all info- as long you dont tell me to buy a Dodge or a GM! These veins run strong with Ford blue!

PS- Im a newb to diesels, not to modifications and engines. I'm a 5 Star Certified Yamaha Outboard technician, and Ive built 9 sec. and 10 sec. Stangs.

I don't have any performance upgrades such as head studs or upgraded turbo or fuel systems. I just want to get another 100K miles out of this daily driver and monthly tower.

So we got a new service truck at work. It's a 2005 F-350 4x2 w/ a 6.0L Powerstroke :yeah: and an auto trans. :argh: Came to us from Springfield Ohio last week. The check engine light was on and when I scanned it I got codes for a cylinder 6 misfire and insuffecent egr flow. I cleared the codes and so far the check engine light hasnt come back on. However the truck still seems to run like crap. It idles rough and seems low on power. Any thoughts would be appreciated. :c:
FORD had their way with me since I ordered the 2003 new and keep putting it to me on parts pricing every since. I think I have paid for the thing twice by now. Original sticker price and then each and every part seperately.

There seems to be no loss in pressure? Does this indicate head gascket or ERG valve or EGR cooler. If only the EGR or EGR cooler is this something I can attempt or should this be done by the pro's.
