alright we've got this 99 powerstroke. its got this weird problem that always comes back
it will run fine when its cold and then when it warms up it just falls on its face. at first it threw injectors 1-7 high to low side short 6-8 high to low short. we changed the valve cover gaskets, the icp put new harness plugs in. then we swapped out injector number 8. and are in the process of switching the orings. after we switched the icp and the gaskets it seemed to run fine. ran it for about an hour, drove it around and then it started to fall on its face again. so we were told maybe the orings were junk?
:argh: but the last time it came in the only code it threw was 1211 which is the icp above/below desired? honestly we've been chasing this ghost for so long now
i should be able to answer any questions please HELP

if anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.

Hey guys, Well i finally have my wife behind me....get rid of my tacoma and go back to a full size! It helps that with the baby seat in the back of my extended cab tacoma shes kissing the windshield. And that i loaded it up last week, blew both air bags and wrapped up both leafs ( I guess i over loaded it haha)

So Im in the market for a 7.3, I had a 6.0L and not willing to hunt a good one down, want something tried and true, that will run through hell and high water and run off "NON PUMP" fuel as it seems i have lots of fuel available for about a buck a gallon.

So I am hunting for a
99-03
Crew Cab
7.3
Manual ( More fun to drive, and the worst that can go wrong is new clutch)
4x4
8ft bed
NOT USED WITH A 5th wheel
1 ton or 3/4 ton
trying for less then 150K miles ( because i can't afford it to break down)

I'd like an XLT, but a lariet would rock. But I can change all the little stuff that doesn't make me happy, ie new radio.

any advice? any suggestions? any thoughts?

let it be known too i want a 7.3 because i like the idea of a truck that i can still beat on, and that doesn't have to be emissions tested in ny, and that I can buy for right around what I'll sell my tacoma for.

So let me hear it

When I am driving in town, cruising at a steady speed of35- 40 my gauge will show 2-4 pounds of boost. Also while I am curising down the highway 70-75 it will show between 6 and 8 pounds. I never really paid attnetion to this before but I swear it would never show boost when I was at a constant steady speed. Is this normal or is the wastegate stuck open?Truck seems to still run funny after fixing other problems that's the only reason I noticed the boost. Thanks.

Tempatures have been dropping lately so earlier in the week I thought the slower cranking was due to the cold. Two nights ago, when I went to leave work, I turned the key on, all the normal dash lights came on, went off, and then the check engine light and the low fuel light came back on and started flashing along with a weird click, click, click coming from under the dash and it would not crank over. I turned the key off, waited a bit, turned it back on and the instant I saw the check engine light go off the first time as normal I cranked it and it fired right off with no hesitation. Drove on home stopping at Safeway on the way and it re-started there just fine as well.
Then yesterday morning it was slow again but cranked over and off towork we went.
But then last night when I went to leave to come home again, dash lights came on and went off like norrmal, but the check engine and low fuel ight once again came on and stayed on, no flash, no crank nada. Several tries-no change.
I opened the door to see if I could hear anything happening outside and the dome light in the roof started flashing like a strobe light till I closed the door, I thought, what is going on here. Went back in the shop and grabbed battery and cables. I connected and as soon as I could get back in the cab, it fired right off with no hesitation at all. Drained batterys at this point I would think would still crank slow.
I'm flusterd, would dying batteries cause this strobelight and what sounds like a clicking relay sound to occur, and after starting and driving, it does not show excessive charging on the volt meter, that shows normal as well :argh:

Well, I'm almost through with my gauge installs. In the process, I decided to install one more gauge pod instead of using A homemade box I constructed. Now I have an extra hole to fill. LOL. So, I thought FUEL PRESSURE GAUGE!. So hear is the question. Where on my 02, 7.3 can I tap into to get A fuel pressure reading and How many pounds pressure am I looking at? Also, is there A difference between A gas fuel pressure gauge and A Diesel fuel pressure gauge? I'm using Auto Meter Pro Comp Ultra Light gauges. Sam. :humm::humm::humm:

Ok so I finally bit the bullet and bought the ATS Aurora 4000 Turbo kit. It whistles like no other and the truck hauls ass. But I went from having to much fuel to not enough. I have a TS 6 pos chip in it right now and there is no difference in performance between the 50 hp pos and the 140 hp pos. With this turbo I should easily feel the diference in power. My chip hasnt really worked right from day one but now im thinking I need some kind of custom tuning software. But I have no idea which one suits my application best. Any and all help is appreciated!!
