Okay, sometime down the road I would like to convert my 1986 F250 2WD to 4WD with a SAS. Please don't tell me just buy a 4WD, my truck has a lot of sentimental value to me and if it is going to cost as much to convert it to 4WD as it would be to buy a 4WD I would rather convert it.

So is doing a SAS on a 2wd the same as on a 4wd other than having to deal with the transfer case and driveshafts? As I understand it you can use the coil buckets that are stock on a 2WD? Does anybody have a link to someone showing how they do it?

Thanks for any help

I'm wanting to put some new injectors in my 86 F-250 6.9 an I've got a few questions. From my research I have gathered BB code injectors are the way to go? And what is the best injectors I should get, I've heard Delphi are good? And when I go into the parts store what should I ask for, if I tell them BB code injectors for a 6.9 diesel will they know what to get or will they need more info on the year of truck and engine BB code injectors in which were stock?

My buddy says I'm polishing a turd, but it's my turd to polish and I love my old turd lol

Thanks

I've beem playing with the pump timing on my 86 6.9l. I here 9 or 9.5 btdc is a good number to start with? How do you go about getting there is the timing mark on the balancer at tdc or is it 7.5 or so? I'm using a Blue Point pulse adapter and the timing seems a little erratic is this poor reading on fuel line or worn injector? Also EGT's seem a little high I'm running a turbo 7psi max 4" strait pipe screw in about 1/2 flat. Will a lean condition cause high temps?

I first had the hard start issue synonymous with return lines so I bought the kit and had at er, it worked, barely, so then I put in a brand new starter, two new batteries, new battery cables, added an auxilary electric fuel pump, changed the fuel filter bought injectors from dieselcare (i know i cheaped out and took a gamble, i just might swap them locally) and just finished installing a brand new stanadyne IP and STILL hhave barely any fuel leaving the injector lines, fuel pisses out the schrader valve, and is reaching the pump and pours out my return lines when open but barrly anything comes out the hard lines, i have some white/grey smoke coming out my turbo downpipe so fuel is there...

Oh I'll also note that the FSS does click when electricity is applied, and when installing the IP I did not remove the gear housing so timing was not changed, and before installing the pump I had turned it up 2 flats from stock

Went to start my f250 today but it will not fire, it has great fuel pressure all the way to the pump ,it will fire on ether, I did not have time to check for fuel at Inj, lines this morning but I will tonight,if I have no fuel from pump to injectors is it reasonable to suspect the fuel solenoid that turns the fuel on and off, I am not very familier with the system on these idi's but just seems logical ...short of a pump that has gone bad....should both wires at the solenoid power up with key on? Thanks in advance

also...New batts, glow plugs working, no fuel leaks...thanks again

Like driving over rumble strips, I can feel it at 20 but, more noticeable at 45 mph. and above. It only happens at steady speeds. If I accelerate or or let off, it stops. I DON'T think that the filter has ever been changed but, I know the fluid has (basically) been changed. Odometer is reading @208,000 even though papers say the the tranny and motor were re-built @ 120,000. (Too many signs pointing to bogus papers.) Any ideas or questions? Need help fast!

Ok, I have a 1985 ford with 6.9. I thought my fuel filter was dead replaced it, truck started fine, drove it into the pasture started surging which is nothing new it does this in the winter or when I haven't started it in a couple of weeks. But then it died and I couldn't restart the engine. Ran down the batteries put it on the charger nothing. Ok let it sit for the last week in the pasture figured the fuel lift pump is gone, went bought one was going to put it in but decided what the hay ill try it again. Started like a champ drove it up to the house started surging and died again. Its like it is running out of fuel but can't figure that tank is over half full and the fuel filter is 3/4 full? Any help would be appreciated, new glow plugs controller and oil air and fuel filter in the last 1000 miles.
