Well while working on my new intake for my 6.0, I got to thinking that I would like to use one of these little three cylinder yanmars out a thermo king unit to make a go cart or street buggy. I will build my own frame which won't be an issue. I guess I need ideas as to where I could resource the other components like a transmission, steering, ideas for suspension, brakes. Fabricating isn't an issue. So just throw some ideas out here for me.

Here's the only things I've thought of so far:
Turbocharger
Start it on number two diesel and run off of waste vegitable oil

I'd like to make this thing street legal, 2x4, and capable of moving around 55 on the road

Thanks in advance guys.

Hi everyone, Im in the process of putting a 1994 12v Cummins in my 1997 F250 that previously had a 7.3 Powerstroke. The cummins was out of a school bus so I had to take the air pump off of it and I put in a vacuum pump and power steering pump for a "dodge" cummins. everything went in with ease, now I just need to know where I need to hook up lines for the powersteering and brakes. If anyone could tell me or put up some pics of where to hook them up that would be great. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks

Hi guys, I'm new to the forums and actually new to diesel trucks. This is my first. I found a deal around my area that I just couldn't pass up. It wa a 06 f350 crew cab dually 4x4 lariat with 170k miles for only 4k cash!. The catch is the engine is bad and already half taken apart by previous owner, so I'd imagine parts are missing ect. Point being, it needs a new engine.

I'd like to know what you guys would suggest I do. I honestly wasn't trying to put a 6.0 back in it.

My Budget is around 6k and I've got a guy who does relatively cheap labor for me.

Ive heard of cummins and cat swap, maybe a 7.3 or 6.4 if possible?

Would I have to replace the tranny if I did this, and how much are we looking for it all price wise guys?

Thank you very much for the information friends!

Thanks an god bless.

Hey everybody,

Hey everybody,

I finally got the Benz engine in the Ranger, all hooked up as to starter, coolant lines, oil and cooler lines connected, etc. Hooked up a temporary fuel tank, primed the injection pump and bled out the air. I did not get the glow plug relay working yet.

When I turn it over I get occasional firing, and exhaust, but cannot get it to start. Now the battery is charging because I have been cranking it over too long.

The engine was completely torn down while out of the car because the front and rear main seals were shot. It was covered in about a quarter inch of grease and sand so I tore it all the way down and cleaned the block and everything. I thought my timing marks were all exactly lined up when I reassembled everything, but I wonder if the injection pump is off by a tooth one way or the other? How do I verify the timing of the injection pump?

This engine ran great before it came out of the MB 300 D.

For all of you guys that have done this Benz conversion before, how do I connect the wiring to the glow plug relay? I saved the glow plug harness, and the relay, but I don't have the other 4 pin plug, and hot wire for the #30 post. I have read where some guys have wired a momentary switch on the dash with an LED from the glow plug circuit to know when it turns off, but I am unclear how to do that from the 4 pins on the relay.

Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks guys!

Rick

Ive been doing a lot of searching about the p pump conversion. I havent found anything about the 94-98 injectors working in the 1990 head. Also, wondering if the stock power steering pump and vacuum pump off the 90 will bolt up to the 94-98 timing gear housing. Those are the main questions i have about it right now. Not sure what year of P7100 pump i have, but i believe its the 180hp pump. I was told 1997. The last three numbers on the pump in the serial number are 911. I also have the injectors, fuel lines, pump to block bracket, pump gear, return lines. I still need the timing gear housing and cover, anything else? Thanks for any help at all!

So I've got a '99 grand cherokee with a dead 4.7, and an '85 benz 300TD with a rusted out body. Sounds like a little mix and match should make me happy, right?

But first is the registration nightmare. I live in NC, and it's a no go putting the older engine in the newer body so far as I can tell. BUT, I have family in FL, which has no inspection process. In fact, it looks like I can transfer the title to my sister and have her register it without even taking the vehicle to FL at all. That at least gets me a street legal license plate and registration. First off, anybody from FL have any thoughts to share on that?

The loophole comes after that though. The application for FL registration has a box to check fuel type. Once the car is registered in FL as a diesel, what would happen if I used the FL diesel registration to register it in NC? Will NC accept the diesel category, thus exempting me from emissions testing? (guess I should mention that NC exempts diesels from emissions testing, I understand several other states do too). I don't really remember, but i think the last time the benz was inspected they never opened the hood at all?

Basically, transfer title to FL resident who registers vehicle as a diesel, transfer title and registration back to more restrictive state where it is accepted as a diesel and exempt from emission inspections.

Any thoughts?

Of course I know you need new rear end and was going to swap the front end to a soild front axle instead of the independent that chevy has. I done a few cummins swaps into fords and older trucks(I'm currently doing my own cummins swap into a 37 Humpback pics to come soon) so I'm not new to this and all the work but duramax is a new area for me so thought I ask?

Hey guys I'm new here. I have an idea, I am thinking about building a 08 bronco. I have been looking a buying an 08 f250 but still saving up for the project at this point. I was wondering about two methods of building this bronco. :humm:

1-Finding a wrecked excursion cutting the rear off and mounting it to the truck, removing the back window welding it all together sanding it and bronco. but I can't remove the top so its really more of a suv.

2-Buying a reg cab truck, buying a camper shell remove the back of the cab making it one. putting a seat in the bed. so than i can remove the top. question im going to have leaks and a draft. solution ideas to that maybe a seal, sheet metal? but i want it to look like it belongs there.

I also plan on putting a 5.9 cummins common rail in there. :)

Idea tips all would be great! my uncles and I are planning this build now. due to the fact at the shop i help out at for a little extra change I am building a 50's chrysler than i have to help with a chevy truck.

I have had my fummins running and driving about a month now. Still tweaking things every day stage. I was looking at the dodge wiring diagrams and see it should be 10.5v into the shutoff solenoid and I am running about 14.3v Is this a concern? how long can I run it like that? Can I put a ballast resistor in there, and if I should what size/rating?

If you need it, 88 F350 (was a idi 7.3) with a 1993 1st gen 12 v and gutrag trans.
