Thought I would show y'all my old truck, her name is Ol' Rattler. It was my grandpa that I am named afters truck, who died a few years before I was born, than it was my dads truck and now it's mine. My dad and I fixed her up after sitting out at my grandmas for many years, we swapped out the old rusty bed for a steel flatbed, changed over to a dual 4.10 rearend, repainted the cab, made up some bed rails, and as you will hear in the video I cut out the old rusted out exhaust the other day and bolted in a straight pipe.

1986 F250 6.9 Diesel with a Straight Pipe - YouTube

Future stuff I plan to do is get some new bb code injectors for a little more power, still got to find a dixie horn, and I have been considering sometime down the road doing a SAS. If I do the SAS I will probably drop some money into a turbo kit for a little boost.

Later!

And even a couple of years later, it seems like the competition hasn't fully caught...

I'm still having trouble with my shift from first to second i have to bring the rpms up over 2000 and sharply drop off and get back into it to shift into second everything else is ok. The TC locks and it shifts into the other gears good. I checked the TV cable and it appears ok but next I want to adjust the bands but in order to do that I have to drop the pan. I bought the truck from my father and he was the second owner and had it for the majority of it mileage and it now has 146 and change on it and he never changed the fluid or adjusted the bands that I know for sure :argh:. My question is that I've been told that if a fluid hasnt been changed and has alot of miles on it that changing it can cause problems with the clutch packs and other things in the tranny, is this true? I can live with the shifting issue for now i guess I dont have the spare cash to rebuild or do a manual swap which i really want to do. Any help is appreciated fellas

BTW Trans fluid still looks ok, nice and red and is not burnt.

Previous owner of my truck removed the wastegate from the turbo completely and welded the housing, so basically I have a non wastegated hx35. My truck will boost to about 40 pounds if at WOT but I try to keep it below 35, and Im not usually romping on it to much. My turbo shaft has some play, side to side, and up and down, but no in and out (toward cab, then toward front end). It doesnt appear to be rubbing the sides of the housing at all, and it doesnt make any wierd noises. Am I ok, or should I start considering options? If there are certain tolerances I can check with my feeler gauges, im working on teh truck friday, sorry to sound like a moron but I just want to keep everything in check the truck is still kinda new to me thanks in advnace

OK for the past few days when I push in the clutch, there is a rubbing sound (but not every time) I figure it is the throwout bearing starting to give grief....., and today the tranny was grinding going into reverse. I shut the truck off and put it in reverse and restarted the truck, parked it, then tried it again. everything was OK. Then later I tried it again, and now going into reverse is getting difficult, she grinds.

If I have to pull the tranny and replace the throw-out bearing, pressure plate and the disk, should I look at installing a solid flywheel? How do I know if it has a dual mass without pulling anything first? And is a solid flywheel a direct replacement for the dual mass?

What is the possibility it is the master or slave or both?
I'll reword this, Do I stick with a dual mass flywheel or should I change it to a solid flywheel, and if I change it, is there anything I need to know or change? I will do the pressure plate, disk, throw out bearing, and pilot bearing.
