hey everone! so im gonna be "that newbie" who asks the question that's probly been asked 1 MILLION times before. so please, just bare with me! thanks!

so anyways, in the market for my first diesel. im pretty sure ive narrowed it down to two options..

1)a 5.9 mega cab w/ manual trans. or..
2)a 4th gen quad cab 6.7 auto trans...

i really like the new styling of the 4th gens and the larger cab space is a must for my family, however im still pretty hesitant given the reputation of the auto transmissions. though iv heard that they made some nice improvements since then...???

on the other hand i like what ive heard about the 5.9s reliability/ simplicity compared to the new6.7s. the 5.9 paired with the manul trans seems like it would be the way to go. but in my area a decent used 5.9 mega cab is gonna cost me around the same as a nice 4th gen (used,not brand new)..

is the performance of the 5.9 manual worth almost as much as a 2010-2014 6.7 auto???

like i said, i need the cab space for my family, so unfortunately, a 3rd gen QC is outta the question. whatever i go with is going to be used as an everything truck. we make regular trips outta town up over mountain passes, trips into town from our house (~10miles) daily, occasionally hauling trailers of various things(cows, cars, quads, boats, ECT..). hunting trips, day long exploratory backroad trips.... EVERYTHING.
