Default 84,000 mile 12 valve

I am thinking of selling my 1995 dodge ram 2500 sclb im not sure how much to ask for it wondering if anyone could help me out on a reasonable price.the good: it has fresh paint 84,000 miles fresh single disk billet auto trans runs great all new front end parts interior is in great shape. all around its a pretty nice looking truck, now the bad: it has a short that i cant i have had it rigged for the past 25000 so i can drive it. but the short draws the batteries dead every night. the frame is also a little bent. any help would be apreciated thanks

I would start troubleshooting at the batteries. Make sure both are in good shape. Could be a shorted battery. Check all connections leading from the batteries. Check and clean all ground contacts (there are several). Check your alternator also for a short. Also check your fuses, as a blown fuse(s) is a good indicator. Check all wiring harnesses going through the firewall, for chaffing as well as wires that may be rubbing on the frame, engine, or trans, or other metal underneath the truck. I know its a pain in the ***, but it could be something simple.
A couple of years ago I had one of my batteries short out. That would cause my other battery to drain and my truck wouldnt start. I researched this forum, looking for a cause and a fix. All info I read pointed to a shorted battery. I replaced both at the same time and fixed the problem. No problems since. Since your truck is a bit older, im sure its been bounced around alot in its lifetime. Secure any loose or hanging wires or harnesses that my have been loose or hanging for months or years. You might get lucky and find the short.

If you have an aftermarket radio or stereo with amp, check those wires as well.

okay sounds good the batteries are new last week altenator is six months old it used to blow the 40 amp ighnition run fuse everytime you would crank the key over but i cut out a blue and yellow wire that went to the ignition switch and just ran a wire from the starter to were i cut out the wire after that the fuse did not blow but now the batteries drain rapidly.

i should also mention the previous owner had a keyless start in it but he cut it out

Well that helps tremendously!!! Check those wires first. If they are all tied together, separate them and/ or remove them entirely. That could very well be where the problem lies. Hope that helps.

Worked on it all day yesterday could not figure it out all I figured out is that there is a ground to power short and the positive lead of the PDc that goes straight to the battery is grounded and when I put a test light on it it glows really dim then when I open the door the test light lights up all the way any ideas? Please chime in
