Default 94 2500 motor change

I have a 94 dodge diesel and the body is rusted out so bought a 98 dodge 2500 gas with hope of swapping the engines. from the little research I did it seems that I will have to take the whole drive train from the 94 and put in the 98. If this is correct will the transfer case hook up to the tranny form the 94. Oh I am sorry the 94 is a rear wheel drive truck. Looking in the owners manual and transfer case for the 98 the tc is a NP241 DHD. The tranny in the 94 with the diesel is a 47RH. Any info on this would be greatly appreciated.

Respectfully, Tyrone

The thing is you need a 47RH that is both cummins-pattern and 4wd. The tcase won't mount up to the 2wd version. Whether or not you can build one from the two, I'm not sure

One way to go is just run the 98 with all the 94 2wd stuff... then starting hunting for, or building, the right trans.

If the transmission is still good in the 98 you should be able to swap motors. The biggest thing I think you will run into is just the motor mounts. I think the 47RH only comes in 1 bellhousing size.

Diesel and V10 gas share the same bellhousing. V8 gas is the smallblock mopar pattern.
