It does not have a kick down cable, it has a throttle valve or "TV" cable which controls shift point and firmness through line pressure. If it has been run at all without this cable properly set (too loose) you will burn up the clutches and ruin the transmission within a couple miles. The Internet is chocked full of info on this. the throttle valve geometry on the lever is pretty important too - found this from another site, maybe helpful...
