Cummins into a Ford no sweat
It is funny to read these forums. There is nothing better than a Ford with a cummins I did a conversion back in the winter of 99-2000. There were very few parts available at that time. I have 1985 F250 super cab 4x4 it started life as 460 with a C6 and a 208 transfer case. The sad thing is it still looks like a junkyard truck but someday I will finish it. I made a barter with a body shop owner I did an excavation for him and we going to finish my truck. But he got drunk and drove the road sad for his family but no services for me. I used the engine radiator and air charge cooler out of a 93 dodge. I used a ZF 5 spd out of a 93 ford and I kept the 208 transfer case. Although most of the people I talked to said the 208 would not hold up well after 60`000 miles it is still going. I was a little creative doing this conversion as I rolled the turbo over to clear the AC case. With exhaust pointed forward it takes the heat of the firewall it does not seem to effect the mileage or power. I only checked the mileage once and it was 22 so I thought was good enough. I talked to a gentleman that had done a conversion on a gmc and he told me to tape a piece of plywood to the back of the block then slide into place. The major work was done to the core support. I had the engine and tranny hanging on a hoist and slipped into place I only had to drill 2 holes for the tranny crossmember. Then with the tranny bolted to the crossmember I set and engine angle of 5 degree`s. From there I grafted the ford motor mounts to the dodge motor mounts. Someday I will change the cab on the truck and finish it. I will never regret the time or money invested and it drives so nice and sounds great with that turbo chirp.
