Default Jakes Transmission Built th400 for cummins swap 86 crew cab GMC

Ive owned this truck for about 3 years and the banks turbocharged 6.2 was a little lacking for my taste. I kept talking about how much id love to swap in a cummins eventually, but it always seemed like it was more of just a dream than a reality. One day on craigslist i found a great deal for a pair of 4x4 cummins trucks in pieces. One was a complete 89 with a bad clutch and the other basically a rolling chassis 92 minus rear axle.
Long story short I paid $2500 for them and traded all but the running non ic 12 valve to install it into my Gmc crew cab. Plus he agreed to pay for 1/2 of all costs for needed items on the install. He did a fair job minus some details and finish work but so far with only spending a total of about $3800 for engine and swap I feel I got a good deal. I also added a few mods during the build.
>he351cw turbo, denny T 1 fuel pin, 366 spring, intercooler, ddp 4 injectors, timing spacer, pump mods, holley black electric lift pump, 4" straght pipe, and bhaf
Ok so In the process I stayed with a stock th400 and a tci maximizer torque converter, which worked well for about a day and a half. Man the truck was fast until my tranny started to slip. I barely made it home and had to pull it with a chain to park it.
So I did a lot of searching to find good builders for 4x4 application th400's and decided on Jakes performance. He gets great reviews for both a well built trans and customer service from the drag and off road guys. Any way Im giving it a shot with his stage 2 transmission and added billet shafts. They guarantee the transmission for 6 months and I'm gonna test it well in that time. I wanted to do a write up as I couldnt find much real world experience on using a turbo 400 built to last behind a cummins. Hopefully this will help others who are looking to swap into a gm. I should get the trans in the next week or so and drop it in. Ill keep you posted. Btw thanks for all the great info. This site helped a lot when searching for how to get the most out of my 12 valve for an affordable amount.
