Default 95 F350 with/460 swap to a cummins?

Hello,
Forgive me if I mix/mess anything up as I'm new to this forum thing, but as most people here posting...I need some advice, help, bla bla bla.

I have a 95 F350 with a 460 in it. I hate the damn thing with a passion, I used to have a 97 Dodge cummins that I knew how to work on and fix/replace things on but due to some dunce at a tire shop not tightning the lug nuts on the tire came off while I was going down the highway, truck flipped, totaled etc. For whatever reason I bought a Ford and a gas engine at that. I have been kicking myself in the butt everyday since. The clutch has already gone out, and that was the biggest pain ever to replace, now I know what the shops charge $1,200 to fix one ...anyway to get to the point...the truck is now making another noise and I don't know what it is and I'm just fed up with it period. The body is great, I like the looks of it but the engine just sucks. I have heard of people switching out ford engines with cummins diesels.

Is this possible with my model of pickup?

What exactly am I looking at as far as switching it over if I can? Such as engine mounts, radiator, transmission etc?

Thanks for taking the time to read and maybe help a girl out.

Also I just wanted to add, what cummins would you recomend? My last one was a 12 valve. Loved it. I will be using this pickup to haul horses to rodeos etc. I currently haul a 4 horse gooseneck but am going to be moving up a a 6 horse with living quarters.

Greetings and welcome. Stick to the 12v cummins as it is mechanical injected and simple. If you go online, search fummins swap kits, or Ford cummins swaps. You'll get all sorts of information on that project, as well as several vendors that sell swap kits.

I approve of this 100%. My gf also has a 95 F350 with the 460 and we hate the fuel economy wo pretty much as soon as we save up a little a 12v is going in, from my understanding plenty of people have done the swap so it is deffinatly doable and not that hard, and if your down for it and want to bring it to florida we can do it for you

I'm in the middle of getting parts for my truck same thing as what you have just a year newer. The cummins swap will be the best thing you can do to that truck. Take that boat anchor of a motor out. I figure with a little buffer zone I will be $5000 into my swap. That's motor and everything. I'm going to do all the work myself too.

When you get things going, give us a step-by-step. I will be doing the same thing, but with a 2001 ford super duty. Im hoping to get that truck this weekend........then I can start collecting parts for my swap. Hoping, hoping, hoping.........

Okay so since my last post I have saved up enough to buy myself the 12 valve Cummins engine. I have dibs a few in my area that I can afford, but I have a few more questions before I run out and buy one.

Is there a particular year I should look for? Or will any year work? Also my pickup is a manual so am I correct in assuming I need to look for a manual engine not a auto? I found two I like but one is an auto and the cheaper of the two so if I can go cheaper I'm all over it. Thanks again for the help/advice

Ive been looking for trucks and researching this swap. Seems the easiest way to go is to swap into a 460 with a 5spd leave the trans in the truck and use an adapter plate. It has to be moved back 2.5 inches to make room requiring custom driveshafts. I would use a 12 valve out of a 2 wheel drive truck to keep costs down doesnt matter if its manual or auto. Dieselconversion.com sells full kits for the swap.

How far along are you now? Btw, I never got that ford super duty b/c I found a rather nasty crack in the area of the steering box. No wonder it was cheaply priced....
