Yesterday truck started idoling hard after driving 15 min. Only has 96000 miles on it. 6.0 Diesel engine. Only drive it to work and back, 15 min drive one way daily. Starts fine, drives fine, after running for a few minutes when I slow down starts idoling hard again. Today same routine to work and back. Started fine drove to work, slightly idoling hard after 15 min. Same thing coming home except by the time I pulled in the Driveway, extremly doggish. Gas pedal on the floor and barely any power, put it in park and just goes to idoling hard again.

Help Please??

 

when was last PM?
This is were you need to start, after doing all of the PM service and she is still acting funny, checked to see if any codes pull.
if nothing, do a compression check.

 

sounds like you might have a clogged EGR valve, when was the last time it was cleaned??

Could be a number of things, that we can definitely help you with. Just need to narrow some things down first.

That's a tough life for that truck, driving 15 min one way a day... I'm not being sarcastic. You're going to keep having small issues with the EGR valve and most likely the turbo just doing that short trip driving without really working it. Does the truck ever get to tow anything?
