Default 02 7.3 shuts down.New CPS,EOT&ICP

I have an 03 f350 7.3.Truck sat for about a year when I didn't need it now it's angry with me.Started acting up a little bit here and there-would kinda stutter-but it stayed running. Then one day it shut off and wouldn't start for a couple hours, but when it finally did it ran fine.It has a "scorpion"? tuner? It was on the truck when I bought it.I would like to remove it once it's fixed.Anyway,I replaced the CPS,EOT AND ICP,but the truck still shuts down.Seems to do it more when it's warmer out.Need this truck to move but it's gunna go down the road if it doesn't run.I bought it so the driveline would be dependable for a while and it isn't doing that. Thanks in advance for any help.

02 f350.New injector o-rings,valve cover gaskets with wire harness, and glow plugs.Replaced the Napa CPS with a Motorcraft.ICP and EOT are still Napa.Truck still shuts down.Drove it about 80 miles after doing the injector o-rings and it seemed to stutter here and there but still ran.Drove it two days later and it shut down after 8 miles.Thats when I put in the Motorcraft CPS.Drove it today about five miles and it shut down again.Every time it takes a couple hours until it starts.Seems to put out a little black smoke at lower RPMs,which it didn't do before.Every once in a while when it stutters it sounds like a "ping" like a gas engine on low octane gas.Getting tired of working on it.Plenty of fuel coming to it.Please help before it goes to the scrap yard.

A friend of mine hooked up his scanner and no codes came up.It's an older scanner and he said it won't work while driving.Fuel tank is also about 3/4 full.

OK.I found a scanner.Codes that came up are:
P0118 engine coolant temp circuit high
P0113 intake air temp circuit high
P0478 exhaust pressure control valve high
P0470 exhaust back pressure sensor malfunction
P0541 intake air heater A circuit low
P internal cont module KAM malfunction
P1876 description unavailable
B1483 brake pedal input circuit malfunction
P1828 transfer case counter clock wise shift relay coil circuit malfunction

I'm not sure where to start with this-from what the scanner said it could be the throttle position sensor or mass air flow.
Kinda nice now,I started the truck and let it run to get some codes and it shut down without moving.Started up after the first time and now won't start after the second time.HA!

i would try these two first..coolant temp and intake air temp..get those two sorted out then go for the po470..i think those would be messing with the computer..hope this helps ...scott

OK.The overflow tank is at the correct level. Is there a possibility of air pockets in the system?I've heard of other vehicles with this problem but not the 7.3s.And how can I check the intake air temp?I feel kind of dumb asking that but I'm not sure how that could change. It has a K&N filter on it.Thanks for the reply.

if your scanner can read intake air temp then start when cold...take reading then start the trk and watch the temp should go up a little as the air temp rises around the sensor ...also use scaner to read coolant temp it should be out side temp before starting and it also will rise as the engine gets warmed up ...should not exceed themostat rateing ..if it dose thencheck with inforred temp tool and see if temp matches the sensor..if the sensor reads higher than what is read by the tool then its your temp sensor...scott

Default More codes/Engine data

Now I'm not very good at using this scanner-I just borrowed it-Please let me know if this means anything.I do understand the alternator and fuel pump readings tho-HA

Key on engine off
P0470 exhaust backpressure sensor malfunction
P0605 Powertrain control module read only memory test malfunction

Key on engine on
P0541 Intake air heater A circuit low
P0476 Exhaust pressure control valve performance

Cylinder test
P0514 same as above
P0284 Cylinder #8 contribution or balance malfunction
P0269" "#3" "

Went to engine run test? function and this is what came up
Intake air temp volts 2.49
Air intake temp 91degrees F
Accel pedal pos volts .52
Barometric pressure volts .52
" " 28.35 inHG
" " 13.92 psi
oil temp 188 degrees F
engine oil temp volts 1.28
Exhaust backpressure 53.31 psi
DTC count 7 cnt
Fuel pressure width 2.2
Fuel pump 100%
Injector control pressue duty cycle 11.4%
Injector control pressure volts .82
" " 480 psi
Manifold absolute pressure 24.7 inHG
" " 12.10 psi
Manifold temp 151 degrees F
manifold guage press 0-.11 psi
Valid drive count 11 cnt
Vehicle power 13.94v
Voltage ref supply 2.50
Wastegate duty cycle 98.8%

Some of these varied a bit as it was running-I just took the average
The truck has been running for an hour now without a stutter or a shutdown

I am very new to these scanners-I borrowed it with no manual-I know you guys are alot better at these than I will ever be.So if I need to do something different let me know.
Thanks for the help and patience.

Truck ran for 3 hours last night with no problems.

Drove it today for 5 miles and shut down-wouldn't start.Had the scanner hooked up and couldn't get any codes. Finally figured out how to get some and these are what came up-
P0478 Exhaust pressure control valve high
P0470 Exhaust back pressure sensor circuit malfunction
P0541 Society of automotive engineers- Intake air heater A circuit low

Figured out how to clear codes and did so-truck started right up
Drove for about 2 miles and shut down-never shut key off and the codes that came up were-
P0475 SAE-exhaust pressure control valve malfunction
Codes P0478 P0470 and P0541 same as before

From what I read online nobody says the exhaust backpressure vale will shut down the engine.I plan to remove it and clean it and the tube as I read online.Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance again.
