I am putting in ZD9's into a 7.3 IDI I just bought. Previous owner has Autolites and yes they swelled. I got 3 of them out ok, but thats it. The rest, after loosening them out of their threads, are acting like they are swelled and I don't dare force them.

I do not want to have them break off and then have to remove heads. If someone is close to San Antonio and has experience changing glow plugs on 7.3 IDI and sequentially putting the pistons at top TDC to keep tips from getting inside motor, and wants to earn some extra money, PM me.

OTC makes a kit, PT# 6005 that works as a thread extender so to speak that will be the only option to get those glow plugs out. No amount of experience will help w/o that kit. Have installed thousands of autolite plugs and all brands will swell due to age.
