My Father-in-Law is stuck, about 1.5 hours South of Rockford, IL in my wife's '04 Excursion.

It cranks but won't start. It had a cold start problem for me a few months ago, would crank for about 30 seconds before starting. Then, one day it wouldn't start warm. Went to take wife to lunch. Wouldn't start. Took her car. Came back an hour later and it started right up.

Also, has had intermittent missing and Limp mode problems. I think it is transmission limp mode, because of hard shifts. Anyway, intermittent miss is becoming common. It now misses most of the time, if not all the time. It doesn't get driven a lot. That's why I drive it when I am home.

Don't know a lot of details right now. He stopped at a gas station, and killed it. It won't start. That was at 4 am. It still won't start.

Is there anyone who knows of a shop nearby? I know it's Sunday. But, was hoping someone might be close enough to help.

He is having it towed to Rockford, IL. Anyone in the area that has a shop, or can take a look at it, please let me know. I have my own ideas. Probably the same as most of you will have. But, I'm not there to hook-up to it and/ or check anything. I don't imagine the scanners that the parts stores will loan out would do any good.
