06 Liberty 2.8 no fire problem
I have a 71k mile 06 Liberty CRD, owned since 08 and 18k miles. Always run like a top. At 60k, did full service plus most of the cleanup suggestions from the nubie file on Lost Jeeps - fan and fan clutch change, elephant hose bypass, larger oil filter, so forth. Basicly, though, a bog stocker. Only noticed oddity has been stiff shifts for first half mile on cold days, seen in long term in ownership.
Problem : Yesterday cranked and started engine, placed in drive, feathered throttle to move from driveway, felt like it was in neutral (no motion response) just long enough to think the 'Wha?' part of "What?", it thunked into forward motion and jumped about a foot and immediately died as if I had dumped a clutch at idle rpm. Now I get no fire (in D or N) though she spins well above minimum starting RPM. All lights are off except 'check engine'. I have no OBDII codes. Once, about 30-40 k ago, the cable from the brake pedal to the transmission selector lockout over-ride (so you can change out of park) had slipped out of its socket, and though yesterday I could select out of park I pulled the selector indicator cover on GP and found the cable out of socket again, replaced it but no joy. I cannot think of any other information to offer. I'm an hour away from any dealer or repair site so want to try to give it a shot here. I suspect some sort of transmission related firing lockout but zero codes on the OBD reader.
Any suggestions welcome. Thanks.
