2001 Fass DRP dumping fuel, new install
Hi,
So my transfer pump failed and I installed a new FASS DDRP in my 2001 dodge cummins along with the Drawstraw I, and finally my truck starts and runs, but it is dumping about a cup of fuel a minute out of the inlet side of the DRP (i think). I used the supplied banjo fitting and the stock banjo bolts on the outlet side and on the fuel filter canister, but my old fuel pump was not the OEM (or was a different OEM that had a different connection on the inlet side) so I did not have a factory banjo bolt to reuse. I ordered a new banjo bolt and then used one of the banjo fittings (the actual banjo shaped thing) from the old pump to canister line, and used that fitting on the inlet side, but for some reason it is dumping fuel at an alarming rate. I tried copper washers as well as the cummins aluminum and rubber washers, and tried with teflon tape but no change, and the banjo fitting is secured to the appropriate size fuel line with a hose clamp. I am not sure where this is leaking from but i assume it is the inlet side. The outlet side is easier to watch and it looks ok.
Also, I did not use that little set screw with the hex head provided in the FASS DRP, it was very unclear in the direction what it was for, is that possibly the source of the leak? Any suggestions?
Does anyone know if there are different sized banjo components that aren't compatible? Could it be the screw i didnt use? Help!
Thanks!
