2003 Ford Excursion 4X4 6.0
Was driving fine I pulled out from a stop sign and pushed accelerator...I couldn't get over 20 mph got to red light idled fine...in my head I thought maybe something was clogged. Green light I pushed accelerator nothing...pumped it nothing just coasted till I could pull over. No engine lights ...and I did not notice any smoke or anything. I shut it off coworker happened to be behind me so I left it got a ride to work and called mechanic. This was 2 weeks ago. So he told me it was the high pressure oil pump and to change that plus all other parts that should be changed while there (icp sensor, ipr valve) 3300 plus tax. Last week he said while he was in there he found that someone had physically welded the egr cooler and that needed to be replaced as well and we are up to around 4500-5500 and this is with stock parts not bulletproof (btw he said in order to have bulletproof it would be 6300 and I said I could only come up with 5800 and that is by running up every creditcard and pulling all savings). So he said we would go stock because there is a possibility that one or more injectors are bad and we wont know till he gets it back up and running. Then he said to save for filtration systm and we will go back in to update that at a price of around 1200 later on....does this all sound right to you? Thank you in advance I have learned a lot just by reading through here... a side note....when I bought the truck I had taken it to these guys and another diesel place (strictly diesel) to have it checked out to ensure I was getting a good truck...both places said the engine looked good though it did pop up with egr codes so I was planning on saving for the bulletproof upgrade...I live in Surprise, Az so yes I have to pass emissions. As of yet we do not tow....I have gone on a couple of 300-400 mile trips and mileage is at around 116000. I mostly drive to and from work which is probably 10 miles to and from....no burnouts, havent played in the mud....oh and had brakes completely redone prob a couple hundred miles ago and that was at the same place for around 1500 plus or minus bucks.
