Default 97 powerstroke miss

OK ive read a few threads and got more ideas here than all of my mechanic friends etc. anyhow here it is 97 f450 powerstroke we first went to ask . com and were told to check connections and we found burnt contacts on the engine harness to valve cover which we fixed and it still have a violent miss we checked and had power going to all of the injectors but the front 3 on the drivers side made little difference when disconnected . I found your site and read a thread on fuel pump problems we checked preasure and found that to be way low 15-20lbs we changed the fuel pump and also pulled the tank and put a new screen in and new fuel the truck runs better but still shakes . when you pull the wires off the injectors they make about the same difference . we also took compression and came up with 400 across all cylinders , there is a recall on the cam sensor is that my next move? maybe ford will let us put it in since plates arent on the truck yet . any help will be much appreciated . oh ya and one more thing it takes some cranking even cycling the glow plugs several times to get it started. 1-2 minutes of cranking. THANKS AGAIN

i would get a scan tool and run a buzz test then run a contribution test to see wich cylinders are acting up. sounds like it needs an injector or two.

Millerboyz, thanks for the input DOES ANYONE HAVE AND IDEA OF WHERE TO GET A SCANNER PEOPLE HAVE TOLD ME THEY COST THOUSANDS? also we did change a couple of injectors b4 we knew that the fuel pump was bad and only had like 15psi also reciently we did notice that the altenator is not charging and I was wondering if low voltage to the computer could also be a problem. THANKS

Yes low voltage can cause problems but generally its more drivability and bad shifts.

But the way I like to check the injectors is to run the engine with valve covers off. Then verify the oil spitter on the top of the injector. It will be pretty good and mostly uniform amongst the other cylinders. Unless one or two is bad.

If one is bad mechanically (low oil output) inside it can still pass the buzz and contribution test due to the solenoid having electrical continuity .

Default 97 miss

First thanks for all the replys I really do appreciate it! well there is a recall on the cam sensor so I think thats in order and as far as driving or reving through the miss (shake) it is smoother at higher rpms I just have to bleed the brakes out to take it for a drive , we had to replace every one of them benefits of Pa salt! will keep you informed thanks all.
