Default 95 GMC 6.5 Turbo Diesel stalls

Ok here's the background,
The truck sat (indoors) for two years. Spun a bearing after the oil cooler line blew off and didnt have the time or money to get it back on the road.

Around a year before I spun the bearing I had the IP replaced.

So I finally got around to get it running and on the road around 6 months ago. But it was hard starting, and when it did start ran real rough for a few minutes and did not respond to the throttle. After a few minutes almost as if something cleared away it would run fine. The smoke would clear and it ran great.
(I replaced the Glow plugs and get an amp draw.)

I also replaced the lift pump when I put the engine back in as well.(it was dead).

For the last week or so it started to stall, like you turned it off with the key.

I was using the truck to power the house (with a 3000 Watt inverter) so the truck was idling a lot since we had the storm (Sandy ) last week, after a few days is when I noticed the stalling after the engine was warm.

With the long Gas lines I figured I'd drive the Diesel more, since I had access to Diesel. However now the stalling has become worse.

It would stall at any speed, at Idle, on the highway at 60mph (2krpm) but would start up again and run like nothing was wrong, sometimes it would buck here and there.

After around a half an hour the stalling and bucking would stop and it would run fine again.

Well today it got much worse, never stopped stalling, because it was intermittant I was thinking it could be a wiring problem, so I checked all the conncetions, looked for pinched wires etc, no problems found, still not sure if the stalling and hard starting are related.

It finally would not start after several tries, it always started before on at the most second or third attempt. I was thinking maybe the engine shutoff relay was losing power or sticking. So I saw that I had both power going in and a ground coming out with the Key in the run position so I took the plunger off and reinstalled the solenoid. Truck started right up, so I thought that was it. ran for around two minutes and died. I was thinking maybe a little air got in there, so I tried to start it agaion, it finally started, and died again. After several more attempts it steadily got worse. Now if I touch the throttle it dies.

Checked the fuel by draining some from the bleed tube on the front of the engine, looked fine except for some dirt that probably came from the inside of the hose (when I drained it a second time it was clean. ) THrew a can of Diesel condinter in a few days ago as well.

Am I looking at another IP? At most this one only has a hundred hours on it. Its obviously a fuel problem but I think I covered the obvious culprits.

Any ideas?

First screw up-its a 96. The 95 is gas.

Thanks, I took the plunger off the solenoid. Didnt help. Diesels are new to me. Learning they arent as simple as the few I've dealt with before (no electronics). Going to try the module in the side of the pump. If that doesnt do it I'll look closer at the ignition, the switch is sloppy. Thanks

The thread is locked but I have more info to add for the 95(96) GMC question.

Got a used PMC and it started easily, ran great but got stuck in traffic on the way home(the truck was left at a work yard) and after about an hour started bucking hard (not shutting down like before). So it fixed the one problem for a while, no codes or check engine light. Suspect the PMC overheated, going to mount another used replacement PMC remotely on a heat sink and see how that works out.
