Hello, I registered a month or so ago but have not been on the board alot yet. I bought a 1996 Ram 1500 a few months ago and have put a little money into getting it up to par. It is an ok truck but I am looking to get into diesels, mostly for the extra towing capacity and maybe even some extra economy. I wouldn't mind doing a few of the basic mods, but nothing crazy. My brother (94matt) has long been a diesel guy and has taught me a lot on what these rigs can do.
Here is a pic of my current truck... ![]() Hopefully, I am looking at finding a 1999-2002 Ram 2500 4x4 CTD. I just need to unload a car first. If there are any guides on what to look for when buying a used version of this generation, please post a link. I don't want to start a thread on what has probably been covered before. Thanks guys. |

One of the things to watch for is the VP44, as long as it had good fuel pressure. Here's a little more on it.
