The body shop says that it is just short of $8k worth of work, with a complete used rear end. They say that the axle is bent.

So, a guy I know, and perhaps someone else are going to try to fix it ourselves first. The guy thinks we can do the job for less than half.

WEll................... Here in sue me WV, they put telephone poles right on the road and build roads around trees, literally.

And I, being stupid, reached down to adjust the heat, or whatever, I forget exactly, and drifted off of the road by a tire width and put the passenger mirror right through the window, past my face and into the dash and windshield on my side.

Then the outside rear tire snagged the pole by an inch or two, ripped the axle off of the springs, and spun me around.

Needless to say, I was so mad at myself I could spit nails.

Thanks all.

I really do need to be thankful to the Lord. The mirror flew right past my face and I did not know it. It could have ripped my face right off of my head.

I was on my way to put a lien on a contract that is stiffing me for $11k, then from there to my attorney.

I did not make it to the county clerks office.

It was my first year with big contracts. It was suppose to be my best year, but best will have to wait just awhile longer. :-))

It went down hill from there, but I am getting my fight back, and will keep on going.

get you a good steel flatbed, rear axle, springs and hangers and you will probably have 4K in it, if that, steel flatbed is 800-900, rear axle is about 800 from a decent junkyard, all the rest of the stuff isnt that much to buy new either.....if you got plenty of tools and a good garage and some buddies to help you, it can be road ready in 1 weekend IF the frame dont need straightened....... -

I thought about it.

[quote=the frame dont need straightened.......[/QUOTE]

Bite your tongue brother. I think I am safe. It was the u-bolts that broke, which I believe saved the frame.

I did not hit the pole squarely which was also a saver.

Only the guy from the body shop says he sees a bent outer axle sleeve. Everyone else says that they do not see it. I don't see it but it would not suprise me if I have issues with the inner axle.
