Smile Ric - 2006 GMC Crewcab Dually Duramax LBZ

Hello Just to introduce myself I'm a retired/disabled Trucker. I started trucking inthe late 60's but I grew up around trucks. When I was Twelve I would shunt trailers around a trucking yard. I started trucking long haul when I was fifteen running to the east coast of Canada from Toronto Ontario. The truck I first drove was a B61 Mack with no bunk and all of 170 HP with a twin stick tranny. I worked my way up in the 70's to a White Frieghtliner Cab over with a V12 71 series with twin turbos as well as the blowers. Detroit Diesel it dynoed at 585 HP and a 15 speed double overdrive. That was in the early 70's It was one of the nicest trucks on the road at that time. Thats how I got my CB handle called the Dirty Dozen not that they use them much anymorebut back then cell phones where almost non existent. I had a lot of different trucks threw the years. The nicest was a Peterbuilt conventional double walkin bunk with a KT 600 HP Cummins and two trannies themain was a 6 speed and the aux. was a 5 speed a top speed was unknown as it was way over 100 miles per hour with several gears to go. Unfortunately it was destroyed when I was pulling through an intersection when another truck ran the red light and hit me in the drivers door and the rest is history. Now I have a Teton fifth wheel that I use to go south in the winter The truck I have now is a 2006 GMC Crewcab Long box Dually with a LBZ Duramax that runs stock at 360 HP. It works great for what I need. Unfortunately I just had the head gaskets done by GM. apparently on those trucks they did not have the best gaskets from what I heard from the dealer as they installed an upgraded gasket set when they put it together. They warranteed the job even though it was 50 miles over the warranty limit they called it goodwill. The problem was it took a month to do the work. I wanted to buy a highway tractor but I could not pass the physical even though it would only be used for RV use they still want you to have a licence for a tractor trailer. Hope this lets you know a little about me. Take care and keep on trucking.

Thank you for the welcome. My miles were between 5 & 6 Million. It's probably more than that but I did not use log books for probably the first 10 years I was driving so it's hard to tell exactly. Things were different back in the 60's & early 70's. There was a lot of poorly maintained trucks back then. With all the regulations they have now The trucking industry has come a long way as far as safety and driver comfort. I hope it keeps getting better for the drivers that are out on the roads. Have a good day & bye for now.
