I have just come across your site thanks to Twitter. I am one of the volunteers at the Anson Engine Museum in Poynton, Cheshire UK. We are an independent museum run on a shoestring by volunteers.

Not sure what you might want to know about us so I shall just talk about some of our iconic engines to give you an idea what we do.

Despite this we have acquired a huge collection of engines including Mirrlees No 1. This is the first diesel engine that was ever built in the UK, in Glasgow in fact 1897. This season we have also taken delivery of a full-size replica of Rudolf Diesel's first ever diesel engine (the original is on display in Germany). Would it be helpful if I post some photographs of these?

As last year was the 150th anniversary of Rudolf Diesel's birth we run a Diesel Exhibition which recently was given a Highly Commended in the National Museums Awards (industry equivalent of the Oscars).

We run many of the engines at the museum so it is very much an active, noisy, fragrant place. -

2003 Chevrolet 2500HD Duramax 4x4 extended cab long box. No cat, 56 gallon Titan tank, Bully Dog Tuner installed on Tow mode.
Changes to come soon: 2" Cognito front lift, MBRP 4" or 5" exhaust.

Here are some of our engines. Will try a couple to see if I can figure out what I am doing. Let me know if these are okay and I will add more if you like these.


One shows our 3hp Crossley Atmospheric engine and a Wayne Grenning model of the engine in the foreground.

The other shows our Gardner 4t5 engine (large 2 stroke diesel) being run for visitors.

The black and white one is the largest single-cylinder Doxford engine when it was being fitted at South Shields college. it is now at the museum in pieces awaiting restoration. -
