Hello,
I'm a novice diesel owner. I've just aquire a 2007.5 Chevy K2500HD crew cab LMM Duramax. This is my first diesel, but not my first truck. The new truck will be carrying a shor bed camper. I have a lot to learn. Please help
What is the most important things to know about a diesel engine? I don't want to damage this engine due to my lack of experince.

Welcome to the bombers you made a good choice joining up. sounds like you got a nice truck though I love the dmax's they are awesome trucks.

diesels are pretty simple to take care of let it warm up and cool down after a good drive. try not to run it outa fuel I would suggest getting some gauges at least exhaust temp, trans temp, most likely a fuel pressure one to just so you can keep some tabs on what your engine is doing.

I am sure some others will pop in that know a little more about the dmax lmm engines. -

Thank you for the advice. There is a trans temp gage built into DIC, but not an exhast or fuel pressure gage. I apreciate the help to educate me on diesels. -

oil every 5k or so depending on driving habits and synthetic vs non synthetic, anti freeze every 30k differentials every 30k tranny fluid and filter every 15 to 30k depending on level of towing/hauling, that is what i recommend and i'm sure your owners manual is about the same -
